ZUG.com, the world’s oldest comedy Web site, launches a crazy funny contest that pokes fun at the mental health profession while giving people a good laugh at themselves.
I don't have A.D.D.. I just can't Focus!
(1888PressRelease) May 15, 2007 - ZUG.com, the world’s oldest comedy Web site, launches its “Craziest Person in the Universe” contest, ZUG invites Web users to confess their nuttiest obsessions, compulsions, behaviors, and thoughts. The person with the funniest confession wins the “Craziest Person in the Universe” title, which entitles the bearer to 10% off all mental health services at participating treatment facilities.*
“This is the craziest contest we’ve ever offered,” says Sir John Hargrave, editor-in-chief of ZUG.com. “Literally. It’s insane.”
In addition to the title of “Craziest Person in the Universe,” which certainly looks impressive on a business card, the winner will receive a funny new “Disorder Tee” T-shirt, offered by http://www.disordertees.com.
Each “Disorder Tee” T-shirt focuses on a specific disorder from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), the classic reference manual used by mental health professionals worldwide. In the DSM-IV, disorders are given a numerical ranking (e.g., 312.82 is the classification for “conduct disorder”). On Disorder Tees, the DSM-IV number is printed on the back of the shirt, with a funny corresponding slogan on the front (e.g., “I beat up the last person that said I had conduct disorder”).
“They say that laughter is the best medicine,” says Sir John Hargrave, editor-in-chief of ZUG.com. “Unfortunately, laughter is no longer covered by many insurance providers, and those that still do, charge a co-pay. That’s why ZUG.com offers it for free.”
According to Marshall Brain, founder of HowStuffWorks.com, who admittedly is not a doctor but who knows a lot about how stuff works, laughter has many physical and psychological benefits. Physically, it reduces levels of certain stress hormones, and increases certain disease-fighting proteins. Psychologically, laughter reduces stress, increases mental flexibility, and fills the mind with a sense of well-being.
ZUG.com welcomes mental health professionals, as well as crazy people everywhere, to read the hilarious entries of its “Craziest Person in the Universe” contest, and to purchase a Disorder Tee for their favorite nutcase:
ZUG.com, the world’s oldest comedy Web site, has been serving up hilarious content with link baiting humor hook pranks since 1995. The success of the site recently caught the attention of Citadel Press, which released PRANK THE MONKEY: THE ZUG BOOK OF PRANKS, which immediately became an Amazon.com bestseller. ZUG.com works with clients to provide targeted optimized content to custom viral marketing strategies.
