Zoho/ManageEngine has been positioned as a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) Software 2017 Vendor Assessment (Doc #US42993417, AUGUST 2017). Zoho/ManageEngine was recognized for its ability to support various endpoint types, including client PCs, mobile devices and servers, in addressing a broad range of IoT and single-purpose device management needs. It was also recognized for its strong single-console capability for all device management functions, including device tracking, management and configuration, as well as implementation of security and application policies.
One of the biggest management problems faced by enterprises today is a lack of holistic management tools for both company-provided PCs (laptops and desktops) and mobile devices (BYOD as well as company-procured devices). These two endpoint categories generally require their own management solutions, essentially doubling management costs due to a lack of consistency and integration. Enterprises are increasingly looking to a unified endpoint model for controlling a wide range of enterprise devices from a single management console.
“Enterprise PC and mobility management control are consolidating into a single IT function as the line blurs between mobile and traditional endpoint computing activities and device form factors,” said Phil Hochmuth, program director for Enterprise Mobility Research at IDC. “Enterprises are just now starting to deploy unified endpoint management with the goal of consolidating multiple configuration, provisioning and management systems, and unifying policy and security enforcement across all end-user computing devices — from smartphones and tablets to PCs and laptops and everything in between.”
“With Desktop Central, ManageEngine is one of the first UEM vendors to adapt to the evolving demands of the endpoint management market by offering integrated MDM capabilities as well as support for both legacy Windows OS and Windows 10,” said Mathivanan Venkatachalam, director of product management at ManageEngine. “This recognition by the IDC MarketScape confirms Zoho/ManageEngine’s progress and validates our long-term commitment to provide best-in-class integrated endpoint management solutions.”
Responding to an Evolving Endpoint Management Market
ManageEngine’s UEM solution helps simplify the overall management of servers, desktops, laptops, mobile devices and tablets by providing software deployment, patch management, asset management, remote desktop sharing, service pack deployment, configurations, Active Directory reports, user logon reports and Windows system tools. The system is designed to work with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems and is compatible with iOS, Android and Windows smartphones and tablets.
According to IDC’s 2017 U.S. Enterprise Mobility Decision Maker Survey, one quarter of enterprises said they are currently deploying or piloting UEM solutions. An additional 40 percent said they plan to deploy a UEM solution in the next 12-18 months.
The IDC MarketScape study represents a vendor assessment of 12 providers offering UEM software. It takes into account both qualitative and quantitative characteristics that define current market demands and expected buyer needs for UEM software.
