Unlike Western packages which have distributed large amounts of tax-free cash to the general population, Belize's package is focused on longer term development projects, tourism, urban renewal and to facilitate student and business loans.

Belize is also positioned favorably with regard to time zones, operating on US Central time. Many established Belizean firms are also quite comfortable doing business with US firms and the Belizean dollar is linked to the US dollar at a ratio of 2:1.
