Chicago native Zach Prather has teamed up forces with Alex Dixon at Dixon Landing Music, LLC for his newest release titled "FREAK". Already, the CD is getting excellent reviews from magazines such as Living Blues and Southland Blues.
The Willie Dixon Legacy is alive and well with Alex Dixon!
(1888PressRelease) March 01, 2009 - After several years of playing with artists such as Cash McCall, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Luther Allison, Etta James and Willie Dixon, Zach Prather has 4 CD's under his belt. But, none can compare to his most recent release titled "FREAK". Already getting rave reviews from the likes of Living Blues Magazine and Southland Blues Magazine, it is just the beginning for this musical creation. "His sound is a wonderful blend of funk, soul, and blues with a modern twist" states Mark Camarigg of Living Blues Magazine. "He's got the chops, the voice, and the funk to garner a wide and modern blues audience."
Born in Chicago in 1952, Zach Prather grew up listening to many of the great Blues players. He began playing at the age of 13 and by the time he was 15 he had made his first record with Curtis Mayfield’s label Curtom Records. During this time he had commenced playing at many of the well known clubs and venues in the Chicago area. At 17, Prather completed two years military service, after which he formed another band and returned to the club scene. However, it was not the local Blues players that influenced Prather then, rather the British invasion groups such as the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, Small Faces and The Who.
By teaming up with the Dixon legacy, the two are sure to generate a great buzz for Zach's music. "It's a breath of fresh air for the music industry. It turns the corner for the direction of blues music," says Alex Dixon on Zach's CD "FREAK". "We are very happy to be working with him and look forward to great things to come."
"FREAK" is available for download on several digital sites, including iTunes and Amazon.
