Friday, August 6, 2010 from 12 noon until 9:00 pm at Nicetown Park, 4301 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia, PA Comcast presents the Nicetown Community Development Corporation's 8th Annual Give Back to the Community Festival and Walk for Peace featuring J and R Grassroots' Youth SuccessFest.

    In a strategic plan to inspire success in children and youth, J and R Grassroots Development and Production Company has partnered with the Nicetown Community Development Corporation to feed, uplift, educate, and entertain children and youth during J and R Grassroots 2010 Youth SuccessFest. Mrs. Rashida Jabbar, Co-Founder of J and R Grassroots', poses as the basis for the strategy, "Within the formula of success, one must first be mentally and physically able to receive and use the tools and opportunities presented…I have to ask the question, Who will feed our children?"

    Not only will the J and R Youth SuccessFest be prepared to feed hundreds of children and youth, part of the plan for success includes inspirational food provided by Philadelphia's own WRNB 107.9 radio personality, Moshay LaRen who will share her "Love Yourself" message and B.E.T.'s own Senior Manager of Public Relations, Vikki Johnson who will introduce the keynote speaker, world renowned actor and activist, Egypt aka Devin T. Robinson X.

    Moshay LaRen, also Music Director for WRNB 107.9, encourages and empowers girls to take positive control of their lives and "Love Yourself." Vikki Johnson is also an accomplished author, entrepreneur, mentor, and preacher whose ministry mission is to challenge, to provoke change, to give hope, and to reveal strongholds that block growth. She, too, will bring focused strategic inspiration as she introduces one of her mentees, Egypt aka Devin T. Robinson X.

    In less than three years, for his dynamic work educating people about HIV, Black history, sex, love and politics through motivational speaking, comedy, acting and poetry, "Egypt," grounded in God, has appeared on Apollo twice, B.E.T.'s 106 & Park, MTV, UPN, NBC, National Public Radio, New York Daily News, SEVENTEEN, HIV PLUS, and POZ magazines, Madison's Who's Who of business executives and professionals, as well as a host of other radio programs and print publications.

    The Youth SuccessFest shall also provide youth networking, the Zakee Z. Abdur Rahman Scholarship Awards Ceremony which acknowledges youth and young adult tenacity and achievement with awards and scholarships, a resource fair with health, jobs, financial literacy, music industry, entrepreneurship and education information, and a dynamic main stage showcase of talent from hip hop to rock including the legendary DJ RC LA ROCK and DJ Slice.

    The "GIVE BACK" continues on August 7, 2010 with "A SOULFUL SATURDAY" featuring the Walk For Peace beginning 12:00 noon, children's play area, activities, vendors, live bands, the presentation of the Vision of Life Award to Philly's superstar Patti LaBelle, and live in concert rising soul artist and guitar wizard, Melvin C McKnight aka Blaqmel, from the Sound of Philadelphia legendary five octave jazz and pop singer, Jean Carne and on her 'come back' journey Grammy Nominee, Miki Howard.

    The NTCDC Give Back Festival has been the catalyst to local economic growth and development, and is highly anticipated every year. The two- day event attracts thousands to the area, and also includes the Walk For Peace, which coordinates more than 30 community based groups and organizations to walk through Nicetown to bring attention to efforts to reduce crime and violence, revitalize the community, and distribute resource and emergency response information. Participants in the Give Back includes families, individual residents, celebrities, community and faith based organizations, institutions, corporations, police departments, and schools who have all worked together with the NTCDC and have given back for over seven years.
