Deandrea will read from her New Orleans set children's book about a group of girls determined to win the grand prize.
- New Orleans, LA (1888PressRelease) November 15, 2013 - Deandrea was motivated to write this story for two very special reasons; her little niece could not find books that represented her and the problem of obesity that is overwhelming the youth of America. She is inspired by FLOTUS Michelle Obama and her Let's Move program. The Who Dat Movers is a group of New Orleans youth who form a double-dutch team. After winning the city wide contest they are headed to the nationals at the Mercedes Benz Superdome. Are they all dat, can they do dat, will they win all dat?
Join us for the 4th Annual New Orleans Children's Book Festival on November 15 & 16, 2013. This year, we're kicking off the year of imagination in partnership with City Year! City Year will help keep the spirit of the New Orleans Children's Book Festival alive all year long.
The Children's Book Festival features book readings by some of New Orleans' most loved children's authors, as well as fun book-related activities for both children and parents. Families will enjoy food, live music, fun activities for kids of all ages, and opportunities to interact with exceptional writers and storytellers throughout this free event.
