The panel comprised three contemporary masters of luxury and bespoke style: designer and couture expert Mr Raghavendra Rathore, Mr Sanjay Kapoor, chief of Genesis Colors, which is at the vanguard of India and international luxury lifestyles and Mr Sanjay Sharma,former head of Swarovski in India. With unprecedented economic growth, incrementally increasing exposure to international trends and lifestyles, India has emerged as a growing destination for luxury retail.The panelists shared views on the global scenario in luxury retail and ideated on the growing and robust luxury segment in India. The country with accelerating disposable incomes and an exponentially expanding base of millionaireshas attracted marquee brands in the luxury and super luxury domain. The dialogue was initiated by Ms. Avantika Dalmia, Chairperson, YFLO.
Welcoming the panelists, Ms Dalmia said "With a growing population of young,discerning and aspiring consumers, India is firm in its position as a destination of luxury brands. Several celebrated global brands have a presence in India and recent studies have shown that the Indian luxury markets will more than double in the next five years. I thank our panel for taking out time to share their perspectives with us as the segments gain both width (expansion) and depth (intensity)".
Ms Gujral added "These are buoyant times for the Indian luxury retail market - people want to experience and adopt luxury. I thank YFLO for organizing this discussion on such a pertinent theme".
Formed to address the hopes, desires and aspirations of Young India, the goal of YFLO is to empower women at various levels across different strata. Current statistics show that women make up only 3% of senior management positions in India and no more than 11% of all small and medium-sized enterprises are run or owned by women.
