"We've pinpointed Canada's best beds" says the magazine, which chose Trout Point Lodge of Nova Scotia among a handful of others across the country.
The May issue of the Sunday Times Travel features a 28-page Total Guide to Canada.
(1888PressRelease) April 23, 2009 - The prestigious London, England based publication has chosen Trout Point Lodge of Nova Scotia among a list of the country's 16 best, most "characterful hotels," and one of only 2 properties in the Maritime provinces. Part of The Sunday Times Travel Total Guide for Canada, the intention of the selection is to allow travelers to "embrace the spirit of adventure and avoid anonymous chain hotels," according to the article. The Total Guide appears in the May, 2009 issue currently on sale.
Trout Point Lodge of Nova Scotia offers a secluded, forested location next to the Tobeatic Wilderness Area on the banks of the Tusket River in the Yarmouth & Acadian Shores tourism region. Last week, ForbesTraveler placed it on a list of North America's top 10 wilderness resorts. The Lodge is owned and operated by 3 men originally from Louisiana who followed the Acadian-Cajun connection to Nova Scotia in the late 1990s. The Lodge opened in 2000.
The article emphasizes Trout Point's allure as a romantic getaway, including such amenities as a wood-fired hot tub, in-room massage, "swathes of wilderness all to yourselves," and rooms described as "cosily romantic, with patchwork rugs, mismatched cushions and log-cabin walls."
The travel magazine is published by the The Times of London newspaper. It has a readership of over 120,000 and was launched as a stand-alone magazine in 2003.
Other hotels included in the list were Manoir Hovey and Quintessence Resort in Quebec, Nita Lake Lodge of British Columbia, and the Windsor Arms Hotel, Toronto, Ontario.
