Xylitol May Be Effective Natural Remedy for Common Respiratory and Sinus Ailments
New Book "No More Allergies" explains use and benefits of Nasal Xylitol.
- (1888PressRelease) April 27, 2011 - LOS ANGELES - Freedom Press announced today the release of its new book "No More Allergies, Asthma, or Sinus Infections: The Xylitol Solution for Children and Adults" by Dr. Lon Jones. Known as "America's Country Doctor," Dr. Jones shares his natural treatment for preventing and resolving respiratory and sinus infections, which he says is as simple as spraying the inside of one's nose with xylitol. The book is available at Amazon and at major book retailers nationwide.
In "No More Allergies", Dr. Jones explains how readers can use nasal xylitol (administered easily and safely as a nasal spray) to relieve themselves and their children of allergies, sinus problems and other upper respiratory conditions such as ear infections and asthma. Due to its effectiveness, Dr. Jones says nasal xylitol may also help reduce or eliminate the need for antibiotics and other allergy drugs such as antihistamines and decongestants.
Dr. Jones also recommends chewing gum with xylitol, as it may help to prevent ear infections and cavities. He cites a Finnish clinical study in which chewing gum sweetened with xylitol prevented 42% of ear infections and 80% of tooth decay. Based on this research, Dr. Jones developed the idea of administering xylitol nasally in an effort to place xylitol directly in the back of the nose where the bacteria starting respiratory infections live. In his practice, doing this resulted in 92% fewer ear complaints in children with recurrent infections.
Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol found in the fibers of many fruits and vegetables. Nasal xylitol is administered by spraying the nose four or five times daily with a saline solution containing xylitol. According to Dr. Jones, "with xylitol, infection-causing bacteria in the respiratory passageway starve because they need six-carbon sugars to survive, whereas xylitol has only five-carbons. Bacteria and viruses enter our bodies when we rub our eyes or nose, or even when we breathe. Of course we wash our hands several times each day to reduce this contamination; it also makes sense for us to wash our nose."
Dr. Jones is a 30-year veteran in healthcare and an Osteopathic Board-certified Family Physician. An expert in family medicine, Dr. Jones is internationally known for his pioneering work using xylitol in the upper airways. His wife Jerry Bozeman's observations of a connection between chronic ear infections and learning problems spurred their development of this preventive treatment which they patented as Xlear® Nasal Wash. Dr. Jones says, "Upper respiratory infections are the most common presenting complaints to primary care physicians and they all start in the back of the nose. When people take drugs to deal with these problems, the drugs block their natural defenses and may also harm children's learning, according to clinical studies."
L. Stephen Coles, MD, PhD, the author of "Extraordinary Healing", says of "No More Allergies", "Dr. Lon Jones' simple advice and cures could save this country millions of dollars in health care costs." Robert Scott Bell, DA Hom, host of The Robert Scott Bell Show, comments, "For a country doctor, Dr. Jones sure knows how to make things work when it comes to our kids' health. This book is must-reading for any parent." Dr. Michael Loes, MD, MD(H), author of "The New Aspirin Alternative", states, "Dr. Jones' new work combines great writing with some of the most practical, important advice for parents nationwide."
