Telepresence will facilitate security procedure compliance in remote coal production areas.
(1888PressRelease) June 23, 2010 - Singapore - Datacraft is helping China energy producer, Xinji Energy, take effective telecommunications to the next level with a state-of-the-art US$1 million videoconferencing system - Cisco TelePresence solution designed and implemented by Datacraft.
Xinji Energy plans to make extensive use of telepresence for regional communication with employees in its remote coal production sites. This is essential to boost productivity whilst enhancing the safety of its workers and assuring effective management in remote and hard- to-reach rural areas.
"Our management staffs were finding it challenging to communicate effectively with our coal production sites," said Zhao Nian Wei, Production Manager for Xinji Energy. "Often, travel to these remote sites could take up to half a day, causing a substantial drain on management resources. As a result, necessary training sessions on security and quality were not conducted as often as required. This had a direct impact on work productivity and ultimately our output."
Datacraft designed and implemented the complete Cisco TelePresence solution to meet the firm's requirements. This included linking the company's headquarters with its eight coal mines across a 200 square kilometre area.
The solution comprised the cutting-edge telepresence technology from Cisco to deliver immersive, face-to-face experiences over the network enabling remote participants in different geographical locations to feel as if they are all in the same room.
Datacraft implemented a number of different Cisco TelePresence Systems (CTS) according to the specific requirements of each location. This included four CTS 3000s catering for up to six persons in one room; one CTS 3200, catering for up to 18 persons; and one CTS1000, suitable for small group meetings. Cisco TelePresence Multipoint Switches (CTMS) and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CCM) were also deployed to ensure the audio-visual communication operates smoothly.
"Telepresence is a breakthrough videoconferencing solution that changes the way businesses collaborate nationally and globally," said Shum Mew Toong, General Manager for Datacraft China. "Telepresence users find their systems highly utilised. Only telepresence conferencing comes close to the face-to-face experience so crucial in business meetings, providing a real alternative to typical conferencing solutions that have been found lacking."
In just a few months of utilising the new system, Xinji Energy is experiencing positive effect of enhancing collaboration and communication between management and staff onsite, and boosting productivity, which has ultimately benefited the company's bottom line.
