WTA Tennis Returns To Carlsbad California This Thanksgiving Week
The 2015 Carlsbad Classic presented by GoMacro, a WTA 125k Series Event, will be held November 22- November 29 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, Calif.
- San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) October 29, 2015 - The Carlsbad Classic presented by GoMacro, a WTA 125k Series Event, is preparing to roll out the red carpet for its first-ever world class tennis tournament held November 22- November 29, 2015 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, in Carlsbad, Calif.
Construction is underway at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort on a new outdoor stadium court. The hard court will be 70 feet wide and 130 feet long.
Elina Svitolina, ranked number 16 in the world, and other top-ranked WTA players will join rising athletes such as CiCi Bellis to include a 32-player singles main draw, an 8-player qualifying draw and an 8-team doubles draw.
American-Idol finalist Kimberly Caldwell will host the Carlsbad Classic for all sessions. Caldwell will perform live during the Players Gala on Sunday, November 22. The Players Gala will include a silent auction to benefit Operation Underground Railroad, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to rescue kidnapped children from slavery.
The Carlsbad Classic has also partnered with local nonprofit Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station. Current and retired service members and their families will receive free admission with a valid military I.D until capacity is reached on Military Appreciation day November 24.
This is the first WTA tournament held after the U.S. Open in the United States. It is also the first tournament of its kind to be held during the week of Thanksgiving.
