Wrenn Works Brings Leading Technology & Interactive Learning Experiences to NC Zoo's New Polar Bear Pavilion
Juanita Wrenn of Wrenn Works Interactive Design, created touch-screen educational games and interpretative panels to raise awareness of polar bears plight.
- Greensboro-Winston-Salem-High Point, NC (1888PressRelease) October 16, 2014 - Juanita Wrenn, Owner of Wrenn Works Interactive Design announced the launch of three interactive games and interpretive panels she has designed and illustrated in collaboration with the NC ZOO as part of their 8.5 million dollar Polar Bear Pavilion. The launch is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 23. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be led by Gov. Pat McCrory at 10:00 am. Admission to the zoo is $12 for adults, $8 for children ages 2-12 and $10 for seniors.
Polar bears have always been a favorite with zoo visitors, but habitat loss and other environmental changes have placed wild polar bears on the endangered species list. The N.C. Zoo expanded their polar bear exhibit with a goal to encourage conservation of the entire species by educating visitors about the polar bears' plight in the wild.
Wrenn, who graduated from Elon's Interactive Media masters program, designed, developed and illustrated three interactive games for the exhibit as well as a series of interpretive panels to educate visitors about the climate changes effecting polar bears and ways in which they can help be part of the solution.

"Our goal was to create engaging educational material, using both conventional and new media. We found a unique way to endear visitors by creating the story of Piper, a polar bear cub, and his mom. This hands-on, heart-warming story teaches visitors how they can reduce their environmental impact to help the polar bears," says Wrenn.
