World Renowned DJ Nabs Returns To His Roots For North Carolina Central University's 2010 Homecoming Festivities
Industry veteran DJ Nabs, well known as the exclusive DJ for Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label will perform during halftime at NCCU's homecoming game on Saturday, October 30th. It is equally a homecoming for DJ Nabs, who got his start performing at local parties and as a member of NCCU's Marching Eagles under the tutelage of NCCU noted band director, Dr. Jerry Head.
- Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) October 22, 2010 - Nabs, one of the pioneers in the Southern Hip Hop movement, started out like many of his peers at NCCU. But it was his love for music that would lead to a global career that spans 25 years and includes tours with some of music's biggest names and being the first DJ to perform with Michael Jackson. Even after so much success, "Durham's Son" is humbled to go back where it all started and be a part of the highly anticipated homecoming festivities.
NCCU Director of Bands Jorim Reid is thrilled about the homecoming performance collaboration with Nabs because of his musical background. Reid believes Nabs is a great example of how students can apply what they learn as band members and translate it to a successful career like Nabs has attained in the music industry. "At school I played the saxophone" says Nabs, "but at home I played the turntables. I took the lessons I learned in band and used them to become a better DJ."
DJ Nabs will be the first DJ to perform with NCCU's Marching Eagles on Saturday, October 30th at O'Kelley-Riddick Stadium during halftime. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit http://nccueaglepride.cstv.com/tickets/nccu-tickets.html
