- (1888PressRelease) February 04, 2017 - Cancer is one of the most frightening diseases affecting millions of people across the world. According to recent studies, cancer will kill approximately six million patients world-wide this year. It has been found that lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer & colon cancer are the leading types of cancers responsible for majority of cancer related deaths. Latest cancer reports reveal that around 55,223 women with breast cancer, 47,000 men with lung cancer, 48,000 patients with prostate cancer & 41,000 new cases of colon cancer were diagnosed in the year 2016. Not only adults, children are also at equal risk of developing cancer. In 2015, an estimated 20,530 children and adolescents ages 0 to 20 were diagnosed with cancer and 2,002 died of the disease. Prevalence of cancer among people with a tender immune system is greater. Survival rate of patients with end-stage cancer is extremely less. However, cancer can be efficiently treated if it is diagnosed in initial stages.
Symptoms of cancer are not easily noticeable & they may be confused with less serious diseases. High fever, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, changes in bowel or bladder function, unusual lump in body, bleeding during urination & persistent pain are some of the most common signs & symptoms of cancer. These symptoms do not necessarily mean that patient has cancer. However, if patient experiences these symptoms, they should consult a cancer specialist (oncologist) for identifying their exact health status. Oncologists may confirm the presence of cancer by recommending imaging tests like x-rays, biopsy or blood tests.
