Word of God Christian Academy Wins Second Straight Eight-Man Football Championship
Word of God Christian Academy 8-man football team defeats Arendell Parrott Academy for their second undefeated season and state championship title under coach Kevin Washington.
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) November 29, 2011 - Word of God Christian Academy, a nondenominational private school located in Raleigh, North Carolina, is proud to announce the school's varsity football team has won their second straight North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) eight-man football Championship under Coach Kevin Washington.
The Word of God Holy Rams defeated Arendell Parrott Academy 46-34 on November 11, 2011 to complete their second straight undefeated 12 - 0 season and NCIAA eight-man football Championship. Despite trailing 32-34 the Holy Rams were able to pull through for a second year in a row thanks to two big runs by running back Qwentarreus Yarborough and two interceptions by Jonathan Jackson.
"I am extremely proud of these young men and the commitment they made to their school and to each other over the course of these past two seasons, said Coach Washington. "Not only have they excelled athletically, but also the work they have achieved academically. I couldn't be more proud of the hard work they put in, on and off the field."
Yarborough, who lead the Holy Rams this year, finished the game with 240 yards rushing on 20 carries, three of which went for touchdowns. Over the course of the season The Holy Rams averaged over 61 points per game.
