  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) February 03, 2011 - The Woodshed Gallery is presenting the work of four outstanding local artists in a group exhibition of their art from February 7 through March 5, 2011.

A public reception for the artists will be held on Saturday, February 12, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.

The exhibition features fine art oil paintings by Robin Wessman of Norfolk and Rick Cardoza of Bellingham, and watercolor paintings by Kris Occhino of Attleboro and Lavonne Suwalski of Holliston.

The artists have all been active in the Franklin-area art scene for many years and have become well-known for their paintings.

Robin Wessman curated the show, with each artist presenting at least ten recent paintings. All of the artists work with realistic imagery, with styles ranging from impressionism to academic realism.

Each of the painters has a strong sense of dynamic composition, and a mastery of color pallets ranging from high-key to somber. In this way, each artist's work acts as a counterpoint to the others.

Each of the artists are active members of the Franklin Art Association, and has had a serious background in art.

Robin Wessman recently organized an exhibition for Franklin Art Association members at the Franklin Public Library. He has a Master of Fine Art degree from Ohio University, and a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Massachusetts. He has been painting New England scenes for over 30 years, and shown them in museums, art associations and galleries across Southern New England..

Kris Occhino holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Studio Art from Skidmore College, and a Masters in Art Education from Rhode Island School of Design. Kris is the Gallery Director of the RI Watercolor Society where she is a Signature Artist Member.

Lavonne Suwalski is an award winning artist who has earned both her Copley Artist and Rhode Island Watercolor Society signatures. She graduated with a degree in fine art from Emmanuel College in Boston and received a master's degree with a watercolor focus from Clark University.  She has taught all levels and ages of artist from elementary age children to adults, and gives watercolor workshops across New England.

Rick Cardoza attended Boston University's School of Visual Arts where he completed both a BFA in painting and a MFA in studio arts education. He went on to teach for eight years in the Canton and Medfield Massachusetts High School Art Programs. Rick is an Artist Member and past President of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society.
