Woodland Hills Church Celebrates National Farmers Market Week with Gourmet Food Trucks
Prince of Peace Church of Woodland Hills, California will host a Farmers Market and Food Fest event on Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 in celebration of National Farmers Market Week.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) August 10, 2011 - This week, August 7-13, 2011 marks there 12th annual National Farmers Market Week, and the Prince of Peace Church of Woodland Hills, California will host a Farmers Market and Food Fest on Wednesday, August 10th from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the church's parking lot located at 5700 Rudnick Avenue in Woodland Hills, California. The food fest will continue through the last Wednesday of August and features fresh produce provided by local farmers and more than 10 gourmet food trucks.
"This unique farmers market will give community members an opportunity to meet their neighbor, build a strong more viable community, enjoy fresh produce from our local farmers, and taste delicious gourmet foods in a unique way - from gourmet food trucks," says Father Rand Reasoner, Pastor of Prince of Peace.
Gourmet food trucks in attendance include: No Reservations, Greenz On Wheelz, Hungry Nomad, Pita Pusher, Shrimp Pimp, Jose O'Malley Mandoline Grill, Greasy Wiener, Aunties Fry Bread, India Jones, Eat Phamish, No Jodas Kitchen, Rosa Bella Cucina, Canters, Barbies Q, No Tomatoes, Sugar Babies, King Kone, Tango Mango, Antonia's Nuts, Sweet Es Bake Shop, and Chunk N Chip.
Since the USDA began declaring National Farmers Market Week in 2000, the number of farmers markets has more than doubled, from 2,863 markets in 2000 to 6,132 in 2010. These numbers have continued to rise in 2011 as farmers markets become fresh food mainstays for shoppers across all socio-economic, political, and ethnic ranges. Farmers markets bolster local economies, improve community health, and bring diverse groups of people together through a shared social space.
