- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2013 - Woodbury University (www.woodbury.edu) has named long-time faculty member Ingalill Wahlroos-Ritter Associate Dean of the School of Architecture. Wahlroos-Ritter has been a full-time member of the School faculty since 2005.
Wahlroos-Ritter, who previously taught at Yale University and Cornell University, recently returned from a semester-long sabbatical to begin her new role. In her eight years with the School of Architecture, she has served as Assistant Chair, Associate Director, Chair of Undergraduate Architecture, and most recently, Graduate Architecture Chair. An influential figure in the field, she contributed to the book Architecture: A Woman's Profession, a landmark compilation that showcases the increasingly important contributions of women architects. Among the other contributors is fellow Woodbury professor Barbara Bestor.
Wahlroos-Ritter's appointment coincides with planning for the National Architectural Accrediting Board's upcoming re-accreditation visit -- the university's first combined visit for both the Bachelor and Master of Architecture programs. The review process is scheduled for spring 2015 and will take place at both the Los Angeles and San Diego campuses.
"Ingalill is a valued member of the School and the natural choice to serve as Associate Dean, possessing stature within the university and in the architecture community overall," said Norman Millar, dean of the School of Architecture. "The timing happens to be ideal, given that she successfully led the Master of Architecture program's initial NAAB accreditation visit just a year ago."
Woodbury University School of Architecture is a network of hubs strategically sited within the Southern California megalopolis: Los Angeles, Burbank, Hollywood, and San Diego. Together, these sites form a critical infrastructure for architectural investigations. The school's undergraduate and graduate programs in architecture and interior architecture train students as entrepreneurs, architect citizens, and cultural builders.
