  • (1888PressRelease) September 02, 2013 - BURBANK, Calif. - For the fifth consecutive year, Woodbury University is among the institutions celebrating the innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship that is the motion picture industry as a major sponsor of the annual Burbank International Film Festival, set for Sept. 4-8 at various Burbank-area venues.

Highlighting this year's festival are an opening night celebration of the 90th anniversary of Warner Bros. Studios on the studio lot, a screening of "The Brothers Warner," a documentary written and directed by Cass Warner Sperling, granddaughter of Harry Warner, and a closing night gala dinner and awards ceremony on Sept. 8 at Burbank's Castaway Restaurant. In between, AMC Theaters will host screenings of more than 70 independent films - including winners of the first Los Angeles County Student Filmmakers Award, which showcases aspiring filmmakers from across the district.

"This year's festival celebrates the legacy of the four Warner Brothers, who helped bring the motion picture industry to the Burbank area," said Edward M. Clift, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Media, Culture and Design at Woodbury University and the festival's director of education. "Equally important is the fact that for the first time the festival also provides a venue for talented young filmmakers from the Los Angeles area to showcase their films, much as the Warner brothers did throughout their careers in motion picture production and distribution."
