Wonder Works Featured in Southern Living As One of 'South's Best Toy Stores'
Southern Living Called Wonder Works "Big Store With An Even Bigger Heart"
- Charleston-North Charleston, SC (1888PressRelease) November 22, 2011 - Christine Osborne, owner of Wonder Works in Mount Pleasant, S.C., West Ashley, S.C. and downtown Charleston, S.C. announced today that Wonder Works was named one of "The South's Best Toy Stores" in the December 2011 issue of Southern Living magazine. Wonder Works was the only South Carolina store featured and was described as a "big store with an even bigger heart."
Southern Living highlights Wonder Works' Lowcountry section in the store, which features toys and artwork made by toy inventors, children, and adults with special needs from the Charleston region. The Air Swimmer, as seen on Late Show with David Letterman, was named a "hot toy" from Wonder Works for the 2011 holiday season. Air Swimmers are giant helium-filled, remote-controlled shark and clown fish balloons that have been a top-seller at all Wonder Works locations.
Southern Living selected the local toy store because of the experience it creates for its customers and its presence in the Charleston community. Not only does Wonder Works feature many of its toys for hands-on play, but it has hosted many family-oriented events that have drawn thousands of attendees. The store also has a charitable focus and regularly gives back through events, fundraisers, partnerships and community outreach. One notable fundraiser included "The Week of Wonder" held in December of 2010, in which Wonder Works donated 7,000 toys to the MUSC Children's Hospital Happy Wheels program.
