Woman Takes Helm At SA Recycling Terminal Island Facility
Elinor Lester Continues Her Meteoric Rise Through Management Ranks.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) August 09, 2011 - While the ports are often thought of as a male-dominated workplace, SA Recycling has named Elinor Lester, a six-year employee, as Port Manager for Terminal Island. In that capacity, she will be responsible for both administrative and operational duties, overseeing budgets, cutting costs while continuing SA Recycling's strong commitment to community outreach. She also will be working with the operations manager to guarantee the production of high quality material, the safe and efficient loading of vessels and containers, and maintaining the company's high environmental standards while ensuring the safety of the 150 employees under her supervision.
After spending 10 years in retail management, Lester, a single mother at the time, bravely opted for a career move and enrolled as a full time student at California State University, Long Beach. Immediately following her graduation in 2005, she was hired by SA Recycling as a data entry clerk. She quickly proved her merit and potential, rapidly moving up the ladder into a management position and attaining her current position less than 6 years after her first day on the job.
"Ms. Lester is a tremendous asset to our company," said SA Recycling Vice President Cristi Rossi. "Having been groomed in the culture of SA Recycling, she has an intimate understanding of the company's culture and inner workings and a thorough grasp of all matters relating to our operations at the port."
Added Lester, "SA Recycling has a sterling reputation for collecting and recycling scrap, being environmentally friendly, taking care of its employees and serving the communities in which they operate. I feel privileged to continue my service to them in this new capacity."
SA Recycling is a full-service metal recycler and processor and is recognized as an industry leader.
