WIPP Annual Leadership Conference a Success
WIPP Annual Leadership Conference was successful in providing attendees with information and contacts to further their business needs.
- (1888PressRelease) July 24, 2012 - The annual Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) Leadership Conference that took place July 18-19, 2012 in Washington, DC was successful in providing useful information to attendees.
WIPP has partnered with American Express OPEN and together the organizations have educated 606,406 small business owners about federal contracting and directly trained 42,704 business owners regarding registrations, certification, business development and other federal marketplace processes.

"The speakers were very focused on being successful in this challenging economy."
Jackie Robinson-Burnette, Associate Director of Small Business Programs, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), kicked off the program as the keynote speaker. She oversees an $8 Billion contracting program and is serious about helping qualified small businesses see success in the USACE.
Julie D'Agostino, President of JMD Enterprises, was awarded the 2012 Give Me 5 Award by Alexandra Ytuarte, Senior Manager, Customer Advocacy, American Express Open.
The Successful Small Business Panel, moderated by Barbara English, included panel members: Lisa Firestone, President & CEO, Managed Care Advisors; Catherine Giordano, President & CEO, Knowledge Information Solutions; LaVern Jackson, President & CEO, Joint Logistics Managers' and Lourdes Martin-Rosa, President, Government Business Solutions.
Magdalah Silva, CEO and Co-founder, DMS International, moderated the Learn From Prime Contractors panel. Expert panelists included Ludmilla Parnell, Director, Business Development Small Business Partnerships, General Dynamics Information Technology; Layli Pietri, Small Business Manager, Balfour Beatty Construction; and Kiyaa Washington-Hider, Small Business Development Manager, Lockheed Martin Information Systems and General Solutions.
