Wine Train New Year's Eve to support breast cancer patients
Black, White, and Pink Ball: Party to raise funds Wine Train New Year's Eve party will donate to Queen of the Valley Medical Center Foundation.
- Napa, CA (1888PressRelease) November 18, 2011 - The Napa Valley Wine Train's popular New Year's Eve gala has developed a purpose: raising money for local breast cancer patients. The event, which includes a sparkling wine and caviar reception, a four-hour multi-course gourmet meal, and dancing to a live band until the wee hours of the new year, has added a new component: a portion of the proceeds raised that evening will help provide support services to local breast cancer patients.
"We polled our Facebook fans early this year, and they overwhelmingly voted for a Black, White, and Pink ball that included a donation to support breast cancer patients. The toga party, disco, and an End of the World theme (2012) didn't have a chance next to the run away winner," said Kira Devitt, Wine Train's Social Media Strategist.
The Train immediately started looking for a partner to help create a successful event, as well as a way to get the funds into the hands of local patients. The Queen of the Valley Medical Center Foundation was just such a fit. The Foundation is based upon the goals of service to the community, and quality, state-of-the-art medical care.
"On behalf of Queen of the Valley Medical Center and breast cancer patients from our local community, we are honored and very grateful for the philanthropic support from the Napa Valley Wine Train. It is this type of community support that allows the Queen to have the resources and to offer community services that encourage mammography and early detection of breast cancer." said Foundation officials.
Renown local designer, Michael Holmes, of Michael Holmes Designs will be masterfully creating the ambiance at the Wine Train station. "These types of events are so very important to me," he said, "anything I can do to help in the fight against cancer." Holmes efforts will set the tone for the evening, and he has graciously agreed to contribute an item to the evening's drawing -- one of his highly sought-after events, personalized for the lucky winner.
Besides a portion of the evening's proceeds going to this worthy cause, there will be an exciting benefit drawing and additional ways to help support local breast cancer patients.
Drawing prizes include:
A Wine Train package for 4, plus two nights, two rooms at the historic Napa River Inn
An afternoon with Michael Holmes at his art studio, and gallery for 12-20 people with a wine and cheese reception.
A variety of large format Napa Valley wines, many signed by the winemakers, including Amuse Bouche, Whitehall Lane, Duckhorn Vineyards, ZD Wines, T-Vine Cellars, Jericho Canyon Vineyard, and many more. There will be two lots of 10 magnums, and one smaller lot of very special wines.
An overnight stay and golf getaway at Silverado Resort
Drawing tickets are 3 for $25, and can be purchased online at: WineTrain.com/holiday/new-years-eve. You do not have to attend the gala to win, nor do you have to be present at the drawing.
Winemaker Rob Mondavi, Jr.'s ONEHOPE Chardonnay will be available on the Train for dinner, and at the station during the party. Fifty percent of profits from ONEHOPE California Chardonnay sales are donated to charities that support the fight against Breast Cancer.
Historically, this party has been one of the Bay Area's best New Year's Eve events. Dinner starts at 5:30, the after party begins at 10pm, and dancing goes until 1:00 am. Ticket prices are $235 per person for dinner and party; $50 per person for the after party only.
