Wine Dinner at Acero pits Italy versus France in "The World Cup of Cooking"
A wine dinner at Acero in Maplewood, Missouri, on Tuesday, August 3rd, will feature a competition between the foods and wines of Italy and France.
- St. Louis, MO-IL (1888PressRelease) July 27, 2010 - It will be "Cucina versus Cuisine" as Acero's chef Adam Gnau puts his Italian menu up against The Crossing's chef Ian Vest and his French fare on Tuesday, August 3rd at 7pm at Acero in Maplewood.
Two leading wine importers are coming to Acero be part of this very cool event. Signore Donald Shannon of Vias Imports represents some of the finest enlightened traditional Italian wineries and Monsieur Todd Mathis of Martine's Wines represents some of the finest small domaines of France.
The dueling tasting menu will consist of five courses (ten tastes). Cost of the dinner is $75 or $100, depending on which of two wine flights is chosen.
Signore Shannon and Monsieur Mathis will pair a wine from each country with each course and will offer their persuasive arguments as to whether Italy or France is superior. At the end of the evening, diners will vote and answer the question once and for all---which is the better country for food and wine? (No extra time or shootouts allowed.)
