Willmott Dixon Interiors Create New Offices For The Department Of Health
Willmott Dixon Interiors has completed a Category B fit-out of 39 Victoria Street for the Department of Health (DoH), providing a new head office environment.
- (1888PressRelease) December 14, 2017 - The project, procured through Scape Group’s Major Works framework, will enable the DoH’s team to relocate from their current office in Richmond House, Whitehall.
Willmott Dixon Interiors was the lead designer working alongside the DoH to create a contemporary environment that embraces modern, agile working methods with hot desks and standing desk areas. The modern office space is attracting interest from other Government departments as they look to adopt similar working practices.
The use of BIM helped Willmott Dixon Interiors win ‘Best overall BIM project’ at the recent RICS’ BIM4SME awards. It was hailed as an example of best practice in all areas, from the point cloud survey and 5D quantities take-off, to supply chain workshops and translation to the client’s CAFM at the end of the project.
One of the judges, Alan Muse, RICS Global Director of Built Environment Standard, said: “An advantage of applying BIM was that it ensured fundamental items to help create a highly productive working environment weren’t missed.”
During the project, Willmott Dixon delivered a number of initiatives to promote the construction industry, encourage skills and create jobs. This included site visits for 760 students, 249 young people attending employability workshops and 107 apprentice weeks provided on site.
Graham Shaw, Managing Director for Willmott Dixon Interiors said, “We are delighted to have created this fantastic modern work space for the Department of Health, transforming the office space for its people with an environment that promotes flexible working. We are also extremely proud of the impact we have made on the local community focusing on local spend and helping enhance the lives of young people.”
Willmott Dixon Interiors has recently completed work on the Design Museum in Kensington and is currently transforming the iconic Old Admiralty building into new offices for the Department of Education.
