The two colleges are part of the USA South's expansion to include member institutions outside of North Carolina and Virginia, with Huntingdon located at Montgomery, Ala., and Covenant based in Lookout Mountain, Ga. Both schools presently compete as members of the Great South Athletic Conference.

Huntingdon College has a 158-year commitment to nurturing growth in faith, wisdom and service and to graduating individuals prepared to succeed in a rapidly changing world. The words, "Faith, Wisdom, Service," appear on its logo, encapsulating the college's motto, "Enter to grow in wisdom; go forth to apply wisdom in service," which is engraved in stone above the door of Huntingdon's historic Flowers Hall. Huntingdon offers nine men's sports (baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and track and field) and nine women's sports (basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball, and track and field).

Established in 1955, Covenant College is a Christian liberal arts college that exists to explore and express the preeminence of Jesus Christ in all things. Covenant's Statement of Purpose articulates this aim in terms of three goals for Covenant College in all its efforts: to build a community of people responding to their identity in Christ, to develop programs designed and operated from a biblical frame of reference, and to provide educational experiences which foster lifelong and Christ-honoring service. The school offers six men's sports (baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis) and seven women's sports (basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball).
