William Grants Introduces 'Monkey Shoulder' at Delhi Duty Free
The blended malt Scotch whisky from William Grants & Sons launched for the first-time in the Indian Sub-continent at Delhi Duty Free.
- (1888PressRelease) October 11, 2012 - Keeping the tradition of being one of the first duty free shops in the Indian sub-continent region to launch and introduce rare and exclusive malts, Delhi Duty Free, India's largest duty free retail space at T3 at IGI Airport has yet again introduced a new rare whisky from the stable of William Grants. Christened 'Monkey Shoulder', this vintage whisky is determined to mix things up in a world where tradition reigns. Authentic to its core, Monkey Shoulder only uses malt Scotch whisky from three of Speyside's finest distilleries.
Created by William Grant's Malt Master Brian Kinsman, this rare whisky marries a specially selected batch of 27 casks from three of Speyside's finest single malts which have been maturing in first fill bourbon barrels. Rooted in malt whisky lore, the name Monkey Shoulder referred to a temporary injury suffered by the malt-men when turning the barley by hand.
With working practices changed since then, the injury no longer exists and now, the name Monkey Shoulder lives on as an affectionate tribute to the malt-men of yore, in recognition of the times they suffered for their art. The whisky has been launched exclusively at Delhi Duty Free for the whisky connoisseurs. It's not yet available in the domestic market which makes is a unique duty free collection.
Nose - Delicate floral notes are intertwined with a zesty citrus orange and soft fresh fruits (apricots and peaches). Hint of honey and a spicy oak enveloped with a rich vanilla sweetness.
Taste - Beautifully sweet and a rich vanilla flavour. Brown sugar and creamy toffee balanced with oak notes and just a hint of spice (cinnamon and nutmeg)
Finish - Exceptionally smooth with a lingering sweetness. On its own it is smooth and rich and is also highly mixable as a cocktail
On the occasion Mr. Neeraj Sharma, Global Travel Retail Manager, William Grants , said, "We were always confident of getting encouraging feedback for the launch of Monkey Shoulder Whisky as there have been considerable consumer enquiries in the past, both at the travel retail as well as in the domestic market. The great initial feedback is precursor to a very big success story we have in our hands"
