WeSchool brings together real entrepreneurs and management students
Entries from 53 real entrepreneurs (Innovators) with innovative products/services and 49 B-school students (Planners) who are groomed to manage and scale businesses were received for the contest.
- (1888PressRelease) December 22, 2011 - Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research organized an all India competition, Mash up: The Entrepreneurial Challenge, 2011 on Saturday, 19 Dec 2011. The competition invited participation from real entrepreneurs and management students nationwide to create scalable execution strategies for their enterprises.
Entries from 53 real entrepreneurs (Innovators) with innovative products/services and 49 B-school students (Planners) who are groomed to manage and scale businesses were received for the contest. Out of these, top 14 contestants from each stream along with two wild card entries were shortlisted based on the selection criteria. In the final round each team was allotted two minutes to make a pitch. The top 15 teams were given certain tips by seasoned faculty members. At the end of the day the teams came up with execution strategies for the innovator's company. These were then presented to a panel of jury comprising angel investors, entrepreneurs & industry experts.
These included Vivek Bhargava, Founder, Communicate 2, and Arvind Agarwal. CEO, Atherstone Investor Communications Limited, Revathi Roy, Founder Forshe Ladies Cab Services, Ashwin Bhadri , Head Business Relations, Equinox Lab, Sanjay Mehta, CEO of MAIA Intelligence, Sunita Singh, Director, NEN online, Dr Sten Ekman, Director -Research, Malardalen University, Sweden and Dr Annalil Ekman- Coach to Apoteket CEOs, Sweden .
The winners received their awards from the hands of Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Group Director Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research. He said, "The key to success in any business is innovation; entrepreneurs have to think of innovative products and services for their target groups. With Mash up we tried bringing together the best innovative entrepreneurs and the talent nationwide. Not only had the winners but also the other participants showed tremendous promise and potential."
The first prize with prize money of Rs. one Lakh went to team Hariyali. The planners of the team, Paras Kapadia, Sachin Jain and Pratik Yosar were from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai (VJTI). Tarang Patel was the innovator in the team.
Vaz Leather Prints bagged the second position. It had innovator Karan Vazirani assisted by planners Shubham Daseda, Rakshit Bapna and Manu Jain from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bangalore. It received an award of Rs 50, 000.
