• Welk Resorts contributes $10k to the Rob Millisor Heart Health Walk in Breckenridge on Saturday to honor the local developer and timeshare pioneer
- Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) June 13, 2018 - On a classic summer day in the Rocky Mountains, officials from Welk Resorts joined local community partners to break ground on the company’s first Colorado resort, The Ranahan, near the historic mountain town of Breckenridge. The celebratory crowd also included Denver sports mascots Dinger (Colorado Rockies), Bernie (Colorado Avalanche) and the Denver Nuggets Dancers to ensure a true Colorado feel to the day’s festivities.
“At Welk Resorts we like to say, ‘Welk-come home to our owners and guest, so today we welk-come you home to Breckenridge,” said Jon Fredricks, President and CEO, Welk Resorts. “From the excitement of a getaway ski vacation to the importance of connecting with family and friends, Breckenridge has become the go-to destination for many vacationers.”
“Welcome Welk Family, staff and owners to the town of Breckenridge,” added Breckenridge Mayor pro tem Elizabeth Lawrence. “Citizens and Town officials look forward to the completion of the The Ranahan and a meaningful partnership and addition to the fabric of our community.”
Welk Resorts also celebrated the grand opening of its Gibbs’ Barn Preview Center today with a ribbon cutting. The Gibbs’ Barn Preview Center is currently open for tours and vacation ownership purchases. Accommodations at The Ranahan by Welk Resorts are projected to open to the public in late 2019.
Located on six acres of a scenic bend in the Blue River and minutes from the world-class Breckenridge Ski Resort, the first phase of resort accommodations is expected to open, weather and construction conditions permitting, in late 2019. This first phase will be comprised of two-bedroom villas — 7 standard and 30 lock-off — for a total of 67 residences. With an eventual build-out of 123 units, the ranch-inspired resort will feature native stone and timber construction with spacious one- and two-bedroom units, each with a kitchen, living room, dining area, balcony or patio, and fireplace. The resort will also offer a fitness center, an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, a small media room and a lively Owner’s Lounge, along with outdoor spas, fire pits and gathering areas. The décor and details give a nod to the area’s rich mining history.
Located along Summit County’s popular paved recreational pathways system, The Ranahan by Welk Resorts sits in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, providing visitors easy access to everything that beautiful Colorado has to offer. The resort is just a 10-minute ride from the heart of the historic town of Breckenridge; 20 minutes from Frisco and Lake Dillon for sailing, biking and fishing; adjacent to area ghost towns, rail lines and historic mines; across the street from the public Breckenridge Golf Club; just over an hour from nearby casinos; under an hour from Vail, Beaver Creek and many other popular ski mountains; and is conveniently about two hours away from the Denver International Airport. The Ranahan has enough area amenities and attractions to pique the interest of any visitor.
The Ranahan will also include employee housing units, which are scheduled for completion during phase one.
As part of the afternoon’s celebration, Welk Resorts made a surprise $10,000 donation to the upcoming Rob Millisor Heart Health Walk in Breckenridge on Saturday to honor the developer and local timeshare pioneer. The walk supports heart health programs in Summit County. Millisor, who died in 2015 after suffering a heart attack while on a humanitarian trip in Nepal, was instrumental in creating a long-term vision of luxury timeshare opportunities in the Breckenridge area.
