Weejee Learning Co-Founder Tracy Bissette and eLearning Guild Partner on Academy Course Series
Bissette to Teach Course on Improving Instructional Design Execution.
- Durham, NC (1888PressRelease) January 16, 2014 - Weejee Learning chief learning officer and co-founder Tracy Bissette has partnered with The eLearning Guild to lead a series of classes for The eLearning Guild Academy in 2014. The eLearning Guild, the oldest and most trusted source of information, networking and communication for e-learning professionals, developed its Academy in partnership with world-class instructors to provide high-quality opportunities for the professional development of its more than 57,000 members.
The six-part series, titled "The Business of Instructional Design," highlights Bissette's expertise in the operational and practical aspects of instructional design. Weejee Learning is a global provider of highly engaging and interactive e-learning solutions for Fortune 500 companies, nonprofits, non-governmental organizations and associations. The course will focus on often-neglected business elements of instructional design, including facilitating challenging conversations, communicating instructional design vision, working collaboratively, managing innovation and culture change, developing relationships with subject matter experts, tracking and staying on budget and timeframe, project management, and more.
The course will meet for live virtual sessions Feb. 26, March 5, March 12, March 26, April 2 and April 9, each from 3 to 5 p.m. ET. The course will be limited in number of participants to allow for a collaborative and interactive experience. Participants will be assigned approximately two to three hours of work in between classes and will receive feedback on their work as part of the sessions.
"Working with The eLearning Guild, we recognized that while there is plenty of information out there about instructional design, little exists about the business behind it," said Bissette. Bissette approached the Guild with her idea for the course in October. "Whether it's discussing project management strategies or planning and tracking a budget, the operational aspects of instructional design are vital to any project and have lead to many successful and profitable e-learning solutions for Weejee. This course will help instructional designers become more valuable to both their internal and external clients."
Bissette has created enterprise-wide learning solutions for an impressive list of internationally recognized organizations including DaVita, Cisco, Conservation International, Nielsen, Burt's Bees and Abbot Labs. Prior to Weejee, Tracy was vice president of Mindworks Multimedia, Inc., where she created an e-learning division and guided its rapid growth. She was selected by Raleigh's Triangle Business Journal as one of 2012 Top 40 under 40 and her work has been recognized in Training Magazine's Top 125 and by Chief Learning Officer Magazine's Learning in Practice Awards.
"We're thrilled to offer this unique professional development program to the eLearning community. There's so much more to good instructional design than storyboarding and authoring tools; this course covers the business elements of instructional design-from communicating with SMEs and stakeholders to managing project scope, from budgeting to communicating a vision and driving innovation," said Janet Clarey, managing director of Guild Academy. "This program fills a void in the professional development of instructional designers, and instructor Tracy Bissette brings to it the perfect blend of experience, passion, and knowledge."
The cost of "The Business of Instructional Design" is $636 for members of The eLearning Guild and $795 for non-members. Discounts are also available for nonprofits, governmental organizations and academic institutions. Registration is limited and expected to fill quickly.
