  • (1888PressRelease) January 17, 2013 - All employment in the US is governed by laws and statutes. These are essentially meant to ensure safe and fair working conditions. The Department of Labor (DOL) administers and enforces nearly 200 federal laws. This webinar will take up some of these, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Workers' Compensation Act for discussion.

The aim of this webinar is to acquaint participants with the major labor laws. Getting familiarity of these laws will prevent organizations from becoming victims of unfair labor practice claims. This webinar is intended to help human resource professionals, managers and business owners gain a better understanding of labor law, how to set up policies and practices for compliance, and minimize liability risks. It is not a course in labor law; rather, it is a workshop to review laws that govern the workplace and how to practically apply them.

This webinar seeks to ensure that HR professionals in organizations stay compliant with the rules, so that they will not have problems in the future when they have to address legal issues pertaining to employees, ranging from overtime pay to termination.

It will cover the following areas:
o Numerous labor laws that affect most places of employment
o Gain understanding how labor laws are enforced
o Best practices for maintaining employer compliance
o Minimizing risk of employment litigation
