WIF 2010 will have been marked by creativity, surprises, as well as many sudden and exciting twists, confirming the festival's importance as the international event of choice for digital-content and interface-design professionals.

WIF, an international get-together
This year, participants from over 40 countries took part in the pre-selection phases. On the occasion of the 2010 festival, nine countries joined the franchised territories network. Local pre-selections were held in the various countries by a range of interested parties such as web agencies Dogstudio in Belgium and Nel Segno dell'8 in Italy; universities, including Tama Art University in Japan, Educacion IT in Argentina, and IGM in Norway; city authorities, including Obninsk in Russia and Nabeul in Tunisia; and, last but not least, the Filigrane Agency, which is an expert in Franco-Chinese relations. As a result of this international team effort, WIF was able to extend its community across all five continents.
WIF Demos goes for Pawns and Pirates of Editions Volumiques
The first WIF Demos gave eight start-ups an opportunity to present technological, marketing or common-use innovations to a demanding audience made up of investors, venture-capital players as well as potential buyers.
A jury - made up of Orange Vallée, Groupama Innovation, France Angels, Legrand and Groupe Réflect - voted for the most innovative 2010 demonstration.
Les Editions Volumiques, sponsored by Etienne Mineur, attracted substantial support with their two interactive games - 'Pawn' and 'Pirates'. Fully in keeping with the spirit of the Editions Volumiques' studio, both games combine the fun of a board game with the interaction enjoyed via modern interfaces.
WIF Congress: Top-level conferences reviewing sector trends and hot topics
The WIF Congress, with conferences and workshops organised by the Elopsys competitiveness cluster, gathered more than 400 participants over the three-day period.
The HTLM5 workshop conducted by Peter Lubbers of Kaazing was highly successful.
In line with their respective interests, viewers were able to find out more about interface prototyping with Fred Beecher of Evantage Consulting, or about new developments from CSS with Dave Shea.
Participants were also able to attend a much-appreciated presentation by Stéphane Hugon, a sociologist and researcher at the CEAQ institute of Paris University (Sorbonne), in which he spoke about societal change and technological innovation.
On the topic of The Body and the Interface, Etienne Mineur of Studio Incandescence captivated the audience with a presentation on "the return to the tangible", as a core value and a user experience, throughout the media sector.
Regarding marketing and business models, Manuel Diaz of Groupe Reflect presented an introduction to attention marketing, which sets the consumer at the heart of the process. Also, Jean-Noël Portugal of Intuneo made a clear and concise presentation during which he took stock of web business models and gave highly informed advice to project innovators.
