Wearever and Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Partner for February Fundraiser and Awareness Campaign
A Portion of Proceeds on Wearever's Women's Incontinence Underwear to Benefit Ovarian Cancer Awareness.
- Asheville, NC (1888PressRelease) February 06, 2014 - The Wearever® brand, makers of comfortable, quality, affordable and stylish apparel solutions for everyday health and wellness concerns, is partnering with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to raise money in support of ovarian cancer awareness and programs for women with this disease. Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death among women and the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers. Throughout the month of February 2014, 10 percent of proceeds from the Wearever women's incontinence underwear line will be donated to OCNA.
OCNA is the foremost advocate for women with ovarian cancer in the United States. This disease accounts for 3 percent of all women's cancers and is the 10th most common cancer in women. About 22,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014, and one in four of those women will lose her life within a year of her diagnosis.
"We are a voice for everyone whose life is touched by ovarian cancer," said Lisa Mauti, vice president of cause marketing at OCNA. "Through this partnership with Wearever, we hope to raise not only much needed money for our programs, but also increase awareness of the disease, its symptoms, and solutions - like Wearever - that can help ease the burden for those living with ovarian cancer."
Urinary urgency and frequency are often side effects for those with ovarian cancer, and are commonly recognized symptoms before diagnosis. Wearever offers comfortable solutions for urinary incontinence with its line of women's panties that look and feel just like traditional underwear but offer absorbency protection to contain leaks within. The underwear works as well as or better than alternatives like adult diapers or pads with the added benefits of a more subtle, comfortable, stylish, affordable and environmentally friendly design. The women's line offers practical underwear styles in cotton, lace and nylon.
The Wearever line works through an innovative Unique-dri™ sewn-in pad featuring a three-layer design. The top layer lets liquid in; the middle layer moves liquid out to the edges of the fabric, wicking it away so it doesn't pool and helping to resist bacteria growth and odor; and the urethane bottom layer prevents leak through so that the moisture is contained within. Wearever underwear are washable and reusable, just like traditional panties, and are available in varying absorbency levels to suit users' needs, including light, moderate and heavy absorbency.
"Wearever underwear are designed to provide an easier, more comfortable solution for people with urinary incontinence, which is extremely prevalent among women as a result of numerous health and wellness issues, including ovarian cancer," said Bob Deerin, president and CEO of the Wearever brand. "The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance is a long-time supporter of all women affected by this disease. We're honored to join this exceptional organization in the fight against ovarian cancer and hope the community will help us in raising money this February."
Wearever will donate 10 percent of sales from the women's incontinence underwear line purchased on its website between Feb. 1 and 28, 2014. To learn more or purchase Wearever products, visit www.WeareverUS.com.
