Wayland Baptist University Named in Top 50 Schools for Military
Wayland Baptist University was recently named among the top 50 schools in the country among military troops using tuition assistance.
- Honolulu, HI (1888PressRelease) July 21, 2010 - Wayland Baptist University (WBU) recently ranked as one of the 50 most popular colleges where active duty troops use tuition assistance according to Military Times Magazine announced WBU - Hawaii Executive Director and Campus Dean Dr. Jeff Barnes.
The methodology to create the list was based on tuition assistance data on students, course enrollments and funds from the Army, Navy, Air Force, active duty Air National Guard, Marine Corps, Army National Guard and Cost Guard. The lists were then combined and grouped the college systems together to determine which schools served the most tuition assistance users in fiscal 2009.
Although there has been a surge in service members pursuing their goal of higher education, the report also found that the majority of troops attended only a handful of schools. The 50 colleges listed accounted for almost 79 percent of students using tuition assistance and the top 10 enrolled 50 percent of those students. WBU ranked 24th in the survey.
WBU - Hawaii was one of the first satellite schools to open outside of their main campus in Plainview, Texas, which opened in 1908. The college recently celebrated its 30-year anniversary last year on the island providing working adults the flexibility and resources to obtain an Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Their diverse curriculum includes degrees and majors in Business Administration, Management, Education, Christian Ministry and Public Administration with various locations on the island. WBU-Hawaii was recently noted as having the most affordable tuition for graduate degrees according to Pacific Business News and also named as a Military Friendly School according to G.I. Jobs, Military Times EDGE magazine and Military Advanced Education.
