"Working with early-stage startups has always been a passion of ours," said managing partner Tom "TK" Kuegler. "It's incredibly rewarding to work with a group of dedicated and passionate founders and help them turn their concept into a profitable venture. And that's exactly what we're looking forward to doing with these new additions. By investing, advising, and incubating startups, we get to work with our portfolio companies as co-founders, not just investors."
Kuegler is currently an advisor to Equisight. "We welcome his knowledge and help guiding us to successful commercialization of our product and services that will bring horse racing out of the binocular era into the new millennium," said Kenleigh Hobby, co-founder of Equisight. "TK approached us at an event in Sedona, Arizona, and his quote to us was: 'I can guarantee you I'm the only one here with a TVG (Television Games Network) account.' Instantly we knew that we needed to further explore the possibilities with Wasabi Ventures."
Wasabi Ventures is bringing more to bear than just business expertise.
Mosaic, which won the VentureX pitch contest in January (co-sponsored by Wasabi Ventures and the abi Innovation Hub) is benefitting from Wasabi's technical help. Gerard Murphy, CEO, said: "We are excited to be a part of the Wasabi family. Over the next couple weeks, Wasabi will be helping us add web access to our online backup solution for serious photographers. This is a feature that our customers have been asking for and we are thrilled that Wasabi will be able to help us get there faster."
Murphy echoes the sentiments of the other founders. "The expertise that Wasabi Ventures brings to marketing and advertising is the missing piece to our growing company," said Phil Croskey, CEO of Maryland Energy Advisors.
