Warrick Dunn Charities Hosting Annual CELEbration Dinner & Golf Classic on June 9 – 10
Foundation provides numerous services including scholarships for higher education, financial literacy classes, health and wellness programming, and homeownership assistance; Public invited to attend an impact dinner celebration and participate in a star-studded golf tournament.
- Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) May 17, 2019 - Atlanta Falcons legendary running back Warrick Dunn is hosting his Annual CELEBration Dinner and Celebrity Golf Classic to benefit the Warrick Dunn Charities, Inc. (WDC). Held June 9- 10, the events raise funds for the various WDC programs to impact the lives of single parent families and underserved communities. The 501c3 non-profit’s mission is to improve lives through innovative programming inspired by Dunn’s life journey. Sunday, June 9 @ 6pm – Dinner Reception with silent and live auction items, entertainment, and a powerful conversation with Pulitzer Prize winning author Dr. Matthew Desmond. Held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, guests can rub shoulders with the celebrities and learn more about why the work of WDC is so important nationally!
Monday, June 10 @ 10am – 9th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic at East Lake Golf Club with a shotgun start. Enjoy a day at this exclusive course with celebrities who are paired in each foursome.
“The CELEBration Weekend has been able to raise much needed funds that support scholarships for post-secondary education for deserving students and the Homes for the Holidays program that empowers single parent families to get a true fresh start to homeownership,” said Dunn. “For more than 21 years, I have dedicated myself to making a difference in the community, because that’s the legacy I want to leave behind as an honor to my mother.”
Dunn, who played 12 seasons in the NFL, was named AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1997 and earned three Pro Bowl selections during his career. In 2005, Dunn was presented with the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, the only NFL award that recognizes a player for his community service, as well as, for his excellence on the field. He finished with nearly 11,000 rushing yards playing for the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Among the numerous celebrities scheduled to appear at the Awards ceremony and golf tournament include Hall of Famers, legends and superstars such as Ronde Barber, Warren Moon, Eddie George, Derrick Brooks, Gary Sheffield, Kenny Lofton, Hines Ward, Rodney Harrison, Takeo Spikes among many others.

Dunn established the Homes for the Holidays (HFTH) program in 1997, and started Warrick Dunn Charities, Inc. (WDC) in 2002 as a way to grow programs and services. The HFTH program awards single parent families achieving first-time homeownership with down-payment assistance and fully furnished homes. HFTH recipient families are chosen through a partnership with affordable housing providers such as Habitat for Humanity affiliates. Additional WDC programming also provides financial education, combats food-insecurity and addresses nutrition and wellness challenges among low to moderate income families.
