  • (1888PressRelease) July 09, 2010 - Jean-Noël de Galzain, CEO of Wallix, says, "Wallix AdminBastion Version 2.1 combines two key functions for information-system risk management. Firstly, the creation of a single access point for company hardware administrators, which is based on the principle of a restricted access area that will be equipped with a surveillance camera. Our clients use it to become compliant with the latest regulations, in effect, and to better manage the level of service of their contractors, as well as the associated costs. Secondly, in addition to the comfort level offered by this system, the recording of sessions allows users to receive irrefutable image-based proof of the operations actually performed by IT system administrators and the company's external contractors."

Version 2.1 of WAB offers an effective tool for improving transparency, which provides a precise overview of the multiple operations carried out on servers and IT hardware. Thanks to the added functions offered by the latest version of the product, IT system managers are able to administer risk accounts, attribute access rights to users, centralise password management and, finally, record supervisory sessions.

Using Wallix AdminBastion, IT managers can also delegate all or part of the maintenance of their information systems, while managing the associated operational risks. In case of incident, IT managers are able to view a video of any actions that were performed on the system.

WAB provides IT managers with an overall view of the security of their IT system by means of a user-friendly graphic interface that enables users to administer privileged accounts, access rights as well as the company's critical hardware, while offering the level of granularity most suited to the risks.

WAB includes seven main functional features: access control; single authentication; recording of sessions; traceability; auditing; real-time monitoring; and, finally, statistical and activity reports. Version 2.1 offers various additional features, such as a reporting tool, which enables users to produce statistics on WAB's activity and reports in the form of graphic files available via the GUI. The latest version of Wallix's traceability tool also includes user profiles and enables the delegation of supervision. Indeed, the profiles mechanism enables an administrator to define, user by user, which functions are accessible from the interface, as well as the user groups and target account groups to which users may apply actions involving consultation, creation, modification, deletion, and so on.

Among other enhancements, WAB 2.1 incorporates analysis of SSH (secure shell) flow scanning. This feature detects the series of characters in the rising flow of SSH_SHELL_SESSION-type logins. Scanning is done 'on the fly' for the flow of characters entered by the user on the keyboard. The latest version of WAB also features a new page in the graphic interface that allows users to consult the history of initial logins.

A new mechanism allows users to send a notification message to several addressees, as well as select which events should lead to the sending of a message. Besides, administrators can configure the transport medium (SMTP). Finally, WAB 2.1 offers timeframe management - a timeframe is made up of configurable periods, which can be combined, and each period contains a starting hour and date, and an ending hour and date, as well as a template for selecting days of the week.

Version 2.1 of WAB is available as software or hardware. The WABDrive service (i.e. the test platform) is available on request in SAAS mode.
