Vote For The Ronald Mcdonald House Of Detroit To Win $25,000 From The Home Depot Foundation
Nonprofit is one of four finalists competing in Foundation's "Aprons in Action" Program
- Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) May 03, 2011 - The Ronald McDonald House of Detroit has been selected as a finalist for "Aprons in Action," The Home Depot Foundation's Facebook voting program that awards a $25,000 Home Depot gift card grand prize to the nonprofit organization with the most votes. Voting begins May 2 through May 31. By simply being a finalist in the program, each of the four competing nonprofits receives $5,000 in Home Depot gift cards.
"We are very grateful to The Home Depot Foundation for selecting The Ronald McDonald House of Detroit as a finalist for its 'Aprons in Action' program," said Jennifer Litomisky, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit. "The $25,000 grand prize would allow us to complete major renovations, including updating rooms for our families, installing new carpet, painting the interior of the home and replacing malfunctioning windows."
Home Depot associates give back to their communities nationwide by volunteering their time and talents with local nonprofit organizations like the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit. The "Aprons in Action" Program recognizes these successful partnerships and gives each of the featured nonprofits the opportunity to do additional work with Team Depot volunteers to better their communities. The Ronald McDonald House and Team Depot volunteers have previously renovated three rooms and a laundry facility at the House.
Voting for "Aprons in Action" begins May 2 at 9 a.m. EST through May 31at Noon EST. The final percentages of votes for each nonprofit will be posted on The Home Depot and The Home Depot Foundation's Facebook pages on June 1 at 9 a.m. EST.
