  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) June 12, 2020 - Helping to decrease the amount of stress in the Clearwater community, and to increase the motivation level of society, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers of Florida are directing visitors and the curious to the free on-line courses at www.volunteerministers.org.

“In 1951, L. Ron Hubbard wrote that ‘A man without future goals is a worried and sick man,’” said Lisa Mansell, the Public Affairs Director for the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization. “Per a just-released study from John Hopkins University, the COVID-19 pandemic created a 10 percent increase in psychological stress in adults. That stress includes serious concerns about the future. How can anyone set a goal for the future, when the future seems so uncertain? That is why we are encouraging people to go on line and learn how they can take more control of their futures.”

The on-line courses include “Targets and Goals”, “Solutions for the Workplace” and “Solutions for the Dangerous Environment.” Each course features a short video, reading and practical drills to apply the information contained in the course.

“The courses average 5 – 8 hours each to complete,” said Ms. Mansell. “Lessons are graded on line.”

Those who wish to do the courses in a more formal setting are encouraged to come to the Volunteer Minister’s Center in Clearwater, located at 101 N. Fort Harrison Ave. Though appointments are encouraged, visitors can drop by during the Center’s regular hours of operation – Monday through Friday 10am to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday 2 – 7pm. The center is closed for lunch between 1pm and 2pm.

The courses are open to people of any faith.

The Volunteer Ministers of Florida’s center is located at 101 N. Fort Harrison Ave. The phone number to the center is 727-467-6965.

    About the Scientology Volunteer Ministers:
The Scientology Volunteer Ministers program was created in the mid-1970s by L. Ron Hubbard and is sponsored by the Church of Scientology International as a community service. The motto of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers is: “Something can be done about it.” Today, the program constitutes one of the largest and most visible international, independent relief forces, with more than 200,000 Volunteer Ministers from around the world.

A Volunteer Minister is described by L. Ron Hubbard as “a person who helps his fellow man on a volunteer basis by restoring purpose, truth and spiritual values to the lives of others.” Hundreds of thousands of Scientologists and others, have been trained in person or online in a wide range of skills that use Scientology principles to bring relief from physical, mental or spiritual suffering and improve any aspect of life—communication, study, marriage, parenting, dealing with stress, being successful in the workplace, achieving goals and many more.
