  • Boulder, CO (1888PressRelease) August 15, 2013 - VisionLink, the largest provider of software and services to facilitate communication and cooperation among non-profit organizations, has named Lori Warrens senior director of Community Solutions.

In this position, Warrens will guide VisionLink's international humanitarian efforts - an area of focus in her last position - as well as direct ongoing efforts to further develop industry-leading solutions for 2-1-1 and overall information and referral efforts.

2-1-1 is a national phone number, pioneered by Warrens, used by community organizations like United Way to connect people to essential human services, community programs and volunteer opportunities in areas such as training, food pantries, addiction prevention programs, affordable housing options and more. VisionLink currently handles nearly one in four 2-1-1 inquiries, which totaled nearly 16 million in 2012.

Warrens began her non-profit career after leaving the banking industry to join the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). She then held a number of positions with United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, including chief operating officer. While there, she developed the 2-1-1 concept and led the city's planning activities to ensure vulnerable citizens retained access to critical services during the 1996 Summer Olympics.

She also served as executive director of the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS), the international association for community help lines and 2-1-1 centers. While with AIRS, she helped develop the Coordinated Assistance Network (CAN), an unprecedented alliance between the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, United Way, AIRS and disaster response organizations to improve access to disaster services.

Immediately prior to joining VisionLink, Warrens was executive director for The Partnership for Quality Medical Donations (PQMD), where she expanded their membership, standards, education and policy programs. PQMD is comprised of some of the world's largest medical products manufacturers and international humanitarian organizations who deliver medical shipments worldwide, support American community health centers and respond to large-scale humanitarian crises.
