  • Santa Cruz-Watsonville, CA (1888PressRelease) September 25, 2018 - Vision Literacy, a leading 501(c)(3) award winning non-profit literacy organization in Silicon Valley, today successfully commenced the fall session of adult literacy program for over 40 enthusiastic learners at Columbia Neighborhood Centre, City of Sunnyvale, California. The learners were welcomed by Ms. PAT Lawson North, the Executive Director, Vision Literacy in august presence of the instructors of the organization with great zeal and fervor.

    The program aims to bridge the language barrier and align the competencies of learners. It focusses on providing comprehensive one-on-one and group tutoring sessions and classes to empower them and build confidence to have a successful vision in their future. Vision Literacy adopted an integrated approach in addressing the literacy issues by implemented learner-centric curriculum to make the sessions more interesting and candid.

    On the commencement of new session, Ms. PAT Lawson North, the Executive Director said, “I am delighted to be a part of Vision Literacy.     According to the U.S. Department of Education and the National Institute of Literacy, 32 million adults in the U.S. can't read. According to National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), Children whose parents have low literacy levels have a 72 percent chance of being at the lowest reading levels themselves. These children are more likely to get poor grades, display behavioral problems, have high absentee rates, repeat school years, or drop out.
