Virgin Media starts 2011 as UK's fastest broadband provider
A new independent survey finds that Virgin Media's claim to be the fastest broadband ISP in the UK is justified.
- (1888PressRelease) February 03, 2011 - Newly released figures show that Virgin Media is consistently providing consumers with the fastest broadband service in the UK.
An independent survey carried out by Cable.co.uk puts Virgin Media on top with an average download speed of more than 7.8Mbps. The average connection speed reported by the 816 people surveyed was 4.4Mbps.
Paul France, CEO of Cable.co.uk said: "Virgin Media's recent advertising campaign claims their broadband service is the fastest in the UK and the results of our survey confirm this."
Another interesting finding in Cable's broadband speed test study is that Be Broadband came in second place ahead of much more high-profile rivals.
Users of Be broadband, which has received numerous awards over the last few years, reported download speed of 5.8Mbps while the more widely known BT placed third with 4.5Mbps.
Sky broadband (3.6Mbps) and Orange broadband (3.3Mbps) round out the top 5 fastest broadband providers in the UK.
