ViewSonic to enter Indian smartphone market
ViewSonic, which unveiled its 10 inch dual operating system tablet and dual SIM smartphone recently, will launch these two devices in the Indian market by the end of the first quarter.
- (1888PressRelease) February 16, 2011 - ViewSonic, which is famous for its PC monitors and projectors, has unveiled an Android 2.2 based dual SIM smartphone called V350, and a dual operating system (Android and Windows 7) 10 inch tablet during the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011 in Barcelona.
Both these devices have received positive reviews around the world. Kuldeep Ramaiya, the national sales head of ViewSonic Technologies, said to The Mobile Indian, "The Indian market is definitely on our radar, and we are preparing to launch these two devices there in the next two months."
V350 boasts of dual SIM capability, and has a 3.5 inch HVGA resolution (480x320 pixels) capacitive touchscreen. It runs Android 2.2 Froyo, has a five mega pixel camera, a micro SD card slot, and Wifi, Bluetooth 2.1 and A-GPS connectivity. The phone's dual SIM feature allows both the SIM cards to be simultaneously active.
The other interesting device set to debut in India and elsewhere is the 10 inch tablet that ViewSonic has unveiled. It is one of the first devices to feature Intel's long-awaited Oak Trail processor, which is designed for tablets.
This tablet has dual-boot functionality with pre-installed Android 2.2 and Windows 7 Professional. The device has a 1024 x 600 pixel LED-backlit capacitive multi touch screen; 3G, Wifi and Bluetooth connectivity; and a battery good for six or so hours of life.
Pricing details were not disclosed, although we expect that the tablet costs less than Rs 30,000 (the iPad's starting price), and that the smartphone is priced below Rs 18,000.
