Vietnam Kitchenware Suppliers Expect To Record Significant Export Growth In 2010

- (1888PressRelease) August 25, 2010 - HO CHI MINH - Vietnam kitchenware suppliers expect export sales to grow by more than 10 percent in 2010 as overseas demand picks up. This is according to Vietnam Sourcing Report: Kitchenware released by the Kearny Alliance with the support of its partner in development, Global Sources.
The Report featured profiles of 33 export manufacturers, plus descriptions, prices and packaging details for 103 best-selling export products. These include fruit baskets, food trays, frying pans and disk racks which are made of metal, rattan, wood, bamboo, ceramic, metal, plastic and more.
Its publication is timed with Global Sources' Private Sourcing Event that is expected to bring some of the world's biggest buyers such as ICA, Arena, Next, Target AU, Metro and Canadian Tire HK to meet face-to-face with quality Vietnam suppliers on Sept. 16 in Ho Chi Minh City.
"Surveyed suppliers in our report note they are rolling out new competiveness strategies such as enhancing R&D with items made of eco-friendly materials and keeping quotes unchanged to retain current buyers and attract new customers," said Khiem Vu, program manager of the Developing Country Export Assistance Program.
"The fact that big-name buyers with combined annual sales of more than $60 billion are reviewing our suppliers' profiles in preparation for the Private Sourcing Event highlights the competitiveness and quality of these exporters."
One supplier profiled in the report, Nguyen Xuan Phu, general director of Sunhouse JSC, said: "Many buyers are coming back to our company inquiring about nonstick and stainless steel cookware. This gives us optimism about the increase in export sales for this year.
"We are excited about the opportunity to be a verified supplier on Global Sources' B2B website - and to meet buyers face-to-face at the Private Sourcing Event here in Vietnam."
Survey results show target export markets; pricing and current product trend "The surveyed suppliers also plan to emphasize traditional overseas markets," Vu said. "Close to two thirds of them will focus on the EU, while a fifth will target Asia-Pacific. The rest caters to North America."
Other results of suppliers surveyed in the Vietnam Sourcing Report: Kitchenware include:
* Export prices range from less than 15 cents to above $32, depending on product, type of material and design;
* Cookware and kitchen accessories account for 86 and 10 percent of total output, respectively;
* Among the 97 percent optimistic about sales growth, 55 percent expect sales to raise more than 10 percent in 2010;
* Suppliers who plan to raise quotes will keep increases to within five percent.
Total capacity of featured suppliers is 40 million pieces per month, half of which is exported.
