WHAT: With flu season underway, Victoria Nursing & Rehabilitation Center has launched a campaign urging high-risk individuals - those over the age of 65 and residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities to immunize against influenza in their Victoria Cares' CDC Vaccinations Workshop. The lecture will provide vital information on the influenza vaccination and others, plus practical steps regarding vaccinations from medical doctor Pete A. Gutierrez, M.D., M.M.S., PA-C.

Dr. Gutierrez will educate patients, family members and guests about the importance of vaccinations for high-risk individuals; which vaccinations they should receive and when; and possible side effects.

Dr. Gutierrez is a medical doctor who has aspired to work with the underserved population of Miami-Dade County and provide them with medical services and other support. With over 25 years of experience in the medical field, he is currently the Associate Dean and Program Founder of the Physician Assistant Program at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University. Dr. Gutierrez is also the Medical Director at the Miami Rescue Mission Clinic at Victoria Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and was previously the Dean of the School of Health Sciences at the Miami Dade College Medical Center.
