  • Portland-Vancouver, OR-WA (1888PressRelease) December 14, 2011 - viaLanguage, a leading provider of global healthcare translation and localization services, announced strong financial and business results for its healthcare translations services for 2011. The company reports it will grow over 25 percent compared to last year.

Highlights of the year include new clients such as the Denver Health Medical Plan, Colorado Access, Audigy Group, and Park Nicollet. Additionally, viaLanguage launched an advanced version of its Online Language System (OLS), added Navajo language capabilities and delivered a new service called Evidence of Coverage (EOC) Translation Service Packs that aid health plans in meeting the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) 2012 ANOC-EOC translation mandate. Among the health plans that use the new service are Commonwealth Care Alliance, Colorado Access, EmblemHealth, Community Health Plan of Washington, Denver MHP and Coventry Health Care.

Lastly, viaLanguage awarded to two recipients its third annual Translation Grant, which honors innovative healthcare organizations that seek to improve healthcare access of underserved, ethnic communities. This year's recipients are the Akron Children's Hospital and Caring Health Center, Inc.

"We had a strong 2011 year," said Chanin Ballance, CEO of viaLanguage. "viaLanguage now works with over 400 healthcare customers and provides professional healthcare translations in 125 languages. We not only have the skills and expertise, but understand the challenges these organizations face and are always focused on offering services that meet their needs, budgets and time restraints."

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, by 2042 those populations long termed minorities will finally outnumber the traditional majority. The Hispanic population alone grew 43 percent from 2000 to 2010, accounting for more than half the country's total population increase, according to the latest Census Bureau figures. More than 175 languages and dialects are spoken across the country today.

"We continue to see demand for culturally and linguistically correct information from healthcare organizations move at an accelerating rate," said Steve Vogeltanz, vice president of Healthcare for viaLanguage. "Especially with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) going into effect in January of 2012, major organizations such as Coventry Health Care and EmblemHealth choose to work with viaLanguage because we provide quality, affordability and the expertise that is needed in creating multilingual documents for the ever changing complicated world of healthcare. That's something our competition can't match."
