Vetter Health Services Celebrates 40 Years, Publishes Book.
- Omaha, NE-IA (1888PressRelease) January 15, 2016 - As we close out 2015, Vetter Health Services reflects on the celebration of 40 years of providing quality living options and care to seniors and the many team members who bring quality care throughout all of our locations. To celebrate, multiple events were held during 2015 at all 30 of our locations located throughout the Midwest.
We continue to celebrate, and kick off our new year by celebrating the care we are able to provide and the heroes that work for us and dedicate their lives in caring for others. Charles Devlin said it best in the following quote, "Every day thousands of unsung heroes bring CARING and compassion to the lives of millions. Their names are never featured in the headlines, but our world would be a much darker place without them." We recognize each team member is one of those people. It is their passion and commitment to making a positive, and sometimes unnoticed, difference in people's lives.
At Vetter Health Services, we believe in the importance of making a positive difference in people's lives. By treating others as the most important person in our lives, we hope to change the view of long-term care.
Looking for ways to help others in each community, many of the celebrations of the 40th year included fundraising walks, bake sales and soup and sandwich drives and were all held to raise money for various causes. The causes included cancer research, renovations for the Bonham Theatre in Fairbury, the Salvation Army, the Red Cloud Fire Department and EMS and Papillion's Veteran's Park Memorial and Honor Wall.
Each quarter, theme parties were held celebrating the various decades of the last 40 years with residents and team members. They listened to hit songs of the decades and wore clothing from the different eras. An award banquet was also held that was attended by home office team members, administrators and quality partners. Special wishes were granted for residents through VHS's Make-A-Wish program.
And to commemorate the history of the past 40 years, the book "Vetter Health Services (Images of Modern America)" was published by Arcadia Publishing in March of 2015 and was co-written by DaNita Naimoli and Diane Neal. The book shares the mission and steps Vetter Health Services has taken to change the view of long-term care.
"We are passionate about dispelling the old stereotypes attached to nursing homes and transforming people's opinions of senior care and living," says Vetter Health Services President Glenn Van Ekeren.
"It's an important part of our culture to honor all seasons of life. We are proud to make the facilities of Vetter Health Services a wonderful place to live, thrive and enjoy life, " says DaNita Naimoli, co-author of the book.
The book's images are compiled from Vetter family members personal collections and the VHS archives. The book is available at local bookstores and on Amazon.com. It costs $22.99 in paperback and $9.99 for the Kindle version.
