Veterans Now Get Free Help With Starting A New Business
SCORE Pittsburgh is now providing free admission to their monthly Small Business Basics Workshop to all veterans of our military seeking to start a new business (a $45 value).
- Pittsburgh, PA (1888PressRelease) January 21, 2012 - SCORE Pittsburgh, a resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration, is now providing free admission to their monthly Small Business Basics Workshop to all veterans of our military seeking to start a new business (a $45 value). This is in addition, to the free counseling services available to veterans currently in business with a question or issue about growing or maintaining their existing business.
The Small Business Basics Workshop is a detailed five hour introduction to starting a business provided by local finance, banking, accounting, legal, and marketing professionals together with SCORE Counselors. Topics include: how to develop business plan, how to identify the best legal structure for the business, how to market your business using online and traditional marketing tools, reporting and tax requirements for a new business and how to finance the start-up.
Veterans can now attend Pittsburgh SCORE's Small Business Basics half day workshops at no cost by simply registering at www.pittsburgh.score.org, or by calling 412-395-6560, ext. 130. Workshops are held downtown Pittsburgh, generally on the third Saturday of the month. Please check pittsburgh.score.org for the upcoming schedule.
According to Workshop Director, Art Green, every year, Pittsburgh SCORE helps over 1,000 small businesses, advising the owner as long as he or she wishes. "It's great that SCORE exists to help foster and develop small business owners," said one participant, who attended a workshop in December, 2011. Another commented, "The presenters were informative and insightful."
SCORE is a non profit association of business owners and executives (many of whom are retired) who volunteer their time, knowledge, and experience to provide free and confidential counseling services to existing and start up small businesses. SCORE nationwide has over 10,000 volunteer mentors with previous business experience.
