LOUIS, MO - The Veterans Business Resource Center will give small businesses an edge on how to promote their business with a special seminar "How to Use PR to Promote Your Business" 6pm to 8pm, Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at the VBRC's offices at 4236 Lindell Blvd. in St. Louis.

    This special seminar is for Veteran owned small businesses. There is no cost to attend the seminar for Veterans, National Guard and Reservist of Active Duty Military and a $5.00 charge for all others. Reservations are required by calling 314-531-8387.

    "This is an excellent opportunity for small-business owners to learn or sharpen their Public Relations and marketing skills needed to operate their businesses," says Darcella Craven, Executive Director. "Steve Turner and Shelly Solomon with Solomon/Turner PR have over 25 years of experience in marketing communications. They will cover a variety of topics from What is Public Relations, to What makes a good news release, to What St. Louis media outlets are available to publicize your business. The Center encourages people who are considering opening a business to take this seminar as well."

    This seminar is for U.S. military and Reserve Veterans, participants must be service members or a partner in a business that is at least 51% owned and operated by the Veteran member.

    The Veterans Business Resource Center is a nonprofit organization affiliated with two previous winners of the Veterans Business Advocate award: former VBRC Chairman Richard "Dick" Grote and founder and former Executive Director Patrick Heavey, who is now the CEO of the VBRC's parent organization, the Veterans Business Advocacy Foundation.
    The Veterans Business Resource Center in St. Louis was established in 2004 and is the first such center in the nation. It assists all U.S. military Veterans, Guard or Reserve members and active-duty personnel transitioning to civilian life to start businesses or expand existing companies. All services are at no cost to Veterans and include entrepreneurial training classes, loan application assistance and individual business counseling. The VBRC is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization chartered in Missouri. Its core funding comes from the Small Business Administration of Washington, D.C. . This core funding is supplemented by private industry donors including The Emerson Electric Company, Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation, US Bank, Commerce Bancshares Foundation, Midwest Bankcentre, Maritz, Boeing and the Dula Foundation as well as from individual veterans and concerned citizens.
