Vermont Fine Furniture Sale Supports Heifer International
Vermont fine furniture company donates 50% of Profits to Heifer International.

"Vermont has long been known for a tradition of making natural, sustainable furniture, due in part to an abundance of native hardwoods in our state," said Peggy Farabaugh, owner of Vermont Woods Studios Fine Furniture in Vernon, VT.
"Through our work with sustainable forestry in Vermont we've come to know that global deforestation is perhaps the number one environmental issue of our time," said Farabaugh. "Being woodworkers who rely on the forest, we've made it our mission to support sustainable forestry initiatives in areas of the globe where they are most needed."
The Vermont based furniture company has forged several partnerships with non-profits dedicated to forest conservation, both locally in Vermont and world-wide. "Although Heifer International is best known for it's work to end world hunger and poverty it is deeply committed to caring for the earth, with an emphasis on rainforest conservation. That's where our two missions meet and we are excited to support their work in this area" said Farabaugh.
Thus on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 Vermont Woods Studios Fine Furniture will sponsor a benefit sale where 50% of the profits from all furniture sales will be donated to Heifer International to support replanting of the rainforest.
The fundraiser is designed to raise awareness about how consumption of forest products, particularly wood furniture, drives global deforestation. "Most of the furniture sold in the USA today is made overseas from wood that is harvested illegally from poor nations which cannot afford to effectively police their forests. This fundraiser is an opportunity for America's green consumers to buy eco-friendly wood furniture and use their purchasing power to help change the world," said Farabaugh.
